Troop
At its centre, the installation celebrates line itself, the simple drawn mark that can move across paper and across human skin, connecting drawing, craft, performance, storytelling and identity into one continuous language.
These paper mannequins with hinged joints are painted as circus performers, their bodies covered in detailed tattoo-like markings that stretch across arms, legs and torsos. Standing somewhere between puppets, performers, and drawn figures. Despite being made from paper, the figures hold a strong physical presence through their posture and ornamentation.
Many people understand the desire to express themselves outwardly through clothing, hairstyles, jewellery, or tattoos. The work reflects this universal impulse to shape how we are seen and to carry personal histories visibly on the body.
