Making personal histories visible

Through textiles, paintings, books, theatre, I explore how stories become something we can hold, wear and remember

. . . is about preserving

Embroidery

I make personal histories visible through art. Sometimes that becomes an embroidered archive. Sometimes it becomes a costume that tells a character’s life. Sometimes it becomes a picture book that helps children understand their own stories.

I make this work to preserve experiences, memories, and stories that might otherwise disappear. Through the act of making, I give physical form to what has been lived.

My work develops through listening, gathering stories, and translating them into material form through stitching, painting, construction, and bookmaking. Each piece becomes a record shaped by both the story and the process of making.

I want viewers to consider the value of individual histories and the act of witnessing another person’s life as something tangible and important.
